“Don’t replace missing knowledge with kit, LEARN to replace missing kit with Knowledge”
Preben Mortensen

The Wilderness Experience International Survival School Summer Course is the first phase of a two part programme designed to equip the individual with all the necessary woodcraft and wilderness living skills needed to overcome any adversity encountered during expeditions, wilderness treks or even their every day life.
Established in 1956 this programme has a phenomenal track record of success and is run in the verdant wilds of the Swedish boreal forests, the area covered during exercises and field study lies in Värmland where Elk, Lynx, Wolves and even Bears still rome free.

The temperate zone course not only covers all the fundamental skills required of a good woodsman but many more interesting and diverse subjects including:

• First aid training in wilderness emergency situations
• Normal equipment for survival techniques and wilderness travel
• Strategis for extreme situations
• Search and rescue techniques of SAR’s teams with a liaison exercise.
• Distress signals
• What you eat in the wilderness - edible plants and fungi

Lead by the renowned outdoorsman and wilderness guide Preben Mortensen your instructional staff are an international team of experts selected to provide you with the very best training available - but please be aware this is not a holiday and all participants will need to have attended a basic entry level course run by a reputable school or similar as we will assume that they have a good basic knowledge of outdoor life and can take care of themselves in ordinary camping and wilderness situations. It is essential that all participants are well motivated to learn all the techniques covered as this challenging yet highly rewarding course is not just a sort of “holiday with a difference” spiced with a few adventure activities it is a practical hands on event which will see you gaining a vast array of knowledge, skill and self confidence the more you put into it.
